Two dead in Savannah single-car crash

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Two people are dead after a car crash early Sunday morning on Henry Street.

The Georgia State Patrol, Savannah Police and Savannah Fire responded to the single-car crash near the intersection of Habersham Street and Henry Street around 3:18 a.m. Sunday.

Michael Singleton, 38, and Towona Andrews, 38, died when their car hit a tree, according to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Chris Cuddington. Singleton was driving fast and traveling west on Henry Street when he lost control of the car and hit the tree, Cuddington said. Both were trapped inside the car. Singleton was wearing a seatbelt, but Andrews was not.

An autopsy and toxicology test will be performed on Singleton's body, Cuddington said.
