COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

WIS has independently confirmed through sources close to McMaster's campaign that a Trump visit is imminent is tentatively planned for Monday; the plans were first published in the New York Times. The Election Eve Rally is being held at 6p.m., Monday at Airport High School.

Vice President Mike Pence is expected to visit Conway on Saturday to rally for Governor McMaster as well.

That event will be at 3p.m. at Coastal Carolina University's Williams-Brice Kimbel Arena.

McMaster, as lieutenant governor, was one of Trump's earliest supporters during his presidential campaign.

“President Trump and Vice President Pence are changing the world, and we couldn’t be more excited to have their support,” Governor McMaster said. “That they are both willing to come and campaign to keep South Carolina moving forward is a testament to the success of our great state, to the things we’ve accomplished over the last few years, and to the strength of our people.”

President Trump has visited South Carolina once to endorse McMaster after he announced his bid for the office. McMaster became governor when former Governor Nikki Haley became the United States Ambassador to the United Nations.

McMaster is running against Upstate businessman John Warren for the GOP ticket to face longtime state Representative James Smith in November's general election.

The "Trump effect" has been much talked about this primary season, especially in South Carolina - where a last-minute primary day tweet against longtime Palmetto State politician and former Governor Mark Sanford ended seeing him lose his seat.

President Trump is McMaster's most important endorsement, while a number of notable South Carolina politicians have endorsed Warren since the primary
