A Beaufort Marine is being honored with one of the nation's highest awards. Today, Master Sgt. Donald Parrish was given the Bronze Star medal with combat V for valor for his role in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
As the team leader of the explosive ordinance disposal platoon in Iraq. Master Sgt. Parrish and his Marines destroyed insurgent weapons and explosives.
But he says this honor should actually go to his entire platoon. "It does make me feel honored and very humbled," he said. "It's a humbling experience, because I don't feel I did anything all that outstanding or great. I was simply there in that position and there was a lot of demanding things put on everyone."
Master Sgt. Parrish says, although he's proud of the honor, he's most proud all of his Marines who all made it home alive after their six-month deployment.
