RIDGELAND, SC (WTOC) - Two South Carolina law enforcement agencies are teaming up to figure out what circumstances led up to a woman's death just outside of the downtown area.
The county coroner said the body of 44-year old Theresa Cozart was found in a wooded area behind a motel in Ridgeland just off Jacob Smart Boulevard by a hiker Sunday night. According to the coroner, Cozart had been dead for several days by the time police were called.

I went to the motel and spoke with the manager, who told me the woman was not a guest at the Forest Motel, but that he was aware of the death investigation.
To the rear of the motel property, there were no signs of a police crime scene, no traces of yellow police tape or evidence markers today.
Anyone we spoke to around the scene about the investigation either didn't know about the death, or did, and were reluctant to talk.
Several officers did visit the motels front office Tuesday afternoon for about ten minutes or so, before driving around the motel lot and then driving off.
We have yet to get a call back from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division for more details. SLED is also participating in the investigation.
RPD said earlier in the day all they can release is what was put out in the crime report.
The coroner says the cause of death is still undetermined, and police are still looking into whether or not foul play is suspected.
Results from blood tests are pending.
