BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) - Law enforcement nationwide is cracking down on drunk driving on Tuesday and Wednesday.
In the Lowcountry, Bluffton Police are checking in on drivers right now. They're looking for a lot of things, especially driving under the influence. Officials are taking steps to lower that number for this holiday. Not only are they looking for drivers who have been drinking, they are also looking for drivers who are distracted altogether and on the phone - talking or texting.
Officials say they are looking for everyone to have an up-to-date drivers license if they are on the road. Bluffton Police say distracted or impaired driving is the number one cause for fatal car crashes in South Carolina.
Law enforcement is definitely urging drivers to be careful while enjoying the festivities.
