This 4th of July has not been all hot dogs and fireworks for Georgia Bulldog fans.
Multiple reports say Dawgs quarterback Jake Fromm broke his non-throwing hand earlier this week in what is being called a "freak boating accident." UGASports.com was the first with the news.
The injury is not expected to keep Fromm from any preseason practices or game action later this year. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart tells ESPN Fromm has already resumed throwing.
Fromm earned co-SEC Newcomer of the Year honors last season after leading Georgia to the program's first conference title in 13 years, a Rose Bowl victory, and the national championship game.
The sophomore from Warner Robins earned his starting spot after fellow five-star recruit Jacob Eason went down with a knee injury in the 2017 season opener. Eason has since transferred to Washington. Fromm's back up is now true freshman Justin Fields, also a five-star recruit.
