The magical season for Tormenta FC reached another milestone Thursday, as the team claimed the USL PDL Deep South Division championship and clinched the first playoff berth in franchise history.
The Statesboro-based club shut out the Birmingham Hammers 3-0 Thursday night on the road to seal it, and push their unbeaten streak to ten games.
It was a scoreless game at half, but Connor Antley's nice goal in the 69th minute opened the floodgates for Tormenta late in the second half.
Toni Soler made it 2-0 Tormenta in the 77th minute with a left footer off a volley, and Jad Arslan put home a late rebound for good measure.
Tormenta improves to 10-0-1 with the win, and pushes their winning streak to 10 matches. The victory not only gives Tormenta the division title, it also locks the club into a spot in the USL PDL Southern Conference semifinals.
Tormenta still has three regular season games to play, and the club is back in action Saturday night at Mississippi Brilla FC.
