Third ID Soldier Killed in Iraq

Six American soldiers, including a member of the Third ID, have died in the past four days. On September 16, an improvised explosive device detonated, killing Fort Stewart soldier, 29-year-old Sgt. Matthew Deckard, while he was on patrol operations.

Four more soldiers from different units were killed when two roadside bombs exploded yesterday. A fifth died today in a blast north of Baghdad.

The attacks push the total number of American troops killed in the war to more than 1,900.
