HARDEEVILLE, SC (WTOC) - A portion of I-95 northbound in Hardeeville is back open after a fatal wreck Wednesday night.
The South Carolina Highway State Patrol said the crash involved a Ford Expedition and a tractor-trailer. It happened around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night in the northbound lanes of I-95 near mile marker 3.
The Ford Expedition was traveling north on I-95 when the tractor-trailer merged onto I-95 from the shoulder, pulling out in front of the Expedition and causing the two vehicles to collide.
Troopers said the driver of Expedition died. That driver was wearing a seat belt
The driver of tractor-trailer was not injured and was charged with failure to yield the right of way.
The South Carolina Highway State Patrol worked the crash with help from the Georgia State Patrol.
