If you're looking for a fun way to enjoy the culinary treasures in this part of the South, the Gourmet Seafood and Spirits Festival is where you need to be.
The four-day event will kick off Thursday night. Proceeds from the festival will go to the Savannah Harbor Foundation, benefitting children in the community.
Some of the best chefs and mixologists from across the country will take over the Westin Savannah Harbor this weekend for a culinary festival like no other.
"Thursday, Aug. 9, we have a coastal chef's table. We've got chefs out of Atlanta, Nick Leahy, Holly Chute, and one of my close friends, Tony Biggs of Certified Angus Beef to give us a surf and turf layer to the event, and of course, our homegrown chef Anthony Burdo, executive chef of the Westin Savannah Harbor. Six courses paired with wine and cocktails," said David Moses, Savannah Harbor Foundation. "Friday, we get going with the Sweetwater Smokeout and Lowcountry picnic. We'll have eight big green eggs supplied by Plantation Lumber and Hardware. We roll right into another event near and dear to my heart, how this whole weekend got kicked off - the Aquacurean Challenge on Aug. 11. We'll have 21 restaurants competing to be the Aquacurean restaurant champion. On the cocktail side, we'll have 15 bars from the region competing for best cocktail, featuring our sponsor spirit, Herradura Tequila, Absolut Vodka, Plymouth Gin, and one of my favorites, Woodford Reserve Bourbon. Then, we round it all out with the Sunday Fresh Catch and Cocktails Jazz Brunch with Jeremy Davis and the Equinox Trio."
