Casting call draws hundreds to Savannah Civic Center

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Hundreds of people wrapped around the Savannah Civic Center for several hours on Saturday all for their shot to be on the big screen.

Central Casting hosted an open call for extras in the upcoming Disney blockbuster.

Crews will begin filming next month all over downtown Savannah.

The working title is goodbye stranger but there's a rumor that the film could be a re-make of Lady and the Tramp.

Some hopeful actors dressed for the part, even taking time to include their families.

"Then we started talking about it and we said maybe we should dress up a bit and stand out in the crowd a little bit," said casting hopeful Gretchen Eichenlaub. "We love Disney, we've been many times, so why not do something different with Disney? So we decided to come down bright and early and we were in the back of the line."

If you missed Saturday's casting call, there's another next Saturday, August 18th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Find out more information on the company's website here.
