POOLER, GA (WTOC) - Citizens in Bloomingdale set aside some time on Saturday to learn how to save a life.
For Life Medical Education Services taught attendees how to do adult and infant CPR today at the Gateway Church Pooler campus. Participants left the one-hour training sessions with certifications from the American Heart Association. Church organizers asked for a $20 donation to take the course.
Proceeds benefit a mission trip to work with orphans in Kenya in October.
We're actually going to be teaching the people that run the orphanage over in Kenya this skill," said Chris Harvey, a student pastor at the church. "They have about 200 kids at that orphanage, and we're going to train them up on this."
Paramedics say it's a huge help if someone starts CPR before first responders arrive.
