STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) - Police in Statesboro are praising the quick thinking of three young women who were kidnapped Sunday night.
Officials say Bradley Cochran abducted the three at knifepoint in a car. It all happened in a busy grocery store parking lot. One of the victims jumped from the moving car to find help and call 911.
Police say Cochran took the girls to Candler County and sexually assaulted them before they could escape. They say the crime could have cost them their lives.
"These young ladies did everything properly at that point," said Statesboro Police Chief, Mike Broadhead. "Then, when the crime occurred and the guy jumped in their car with a knife, they still kept their wits about them, so they had to change their gameplan to figure out how are they going to survive this incident."
With Cochran taking his own life, Chief Broadhead says they may never know why he did it.
