Savannah State at Howard University football game postponed due to Hurricane Florence

Canceled college and high school football games

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah State University's football game against Howard University on Saturday was postponed Wednesday because of Hurricane Florence's potential impact on the U.S. east coast.

"Obviously, the health and safety of our student-athletes, staffs and fans of both universities are of utmost concern for us," Mid-Easten Atlantic Conference Commissioner Dennis Thomas said. "Should the path of Hurricane Florence pose a threat to any other events involving our institutions, we will quickly alert our fans."

Thomas said a make-up date has not yet been determined.

Howard University is located in Washington, D.C. Hurricane Florence is expected to make landfall on the North Carolina-South Carolina coast around 8 a.m. Saturday, according to the latest forecast from the National Hurricane Center.
