Jasper County Schools Costing More Than Expected

Just how much longer will it be until the new Jasper County schools are complete? Today, school board members and school officials met with contractors to iron out the details on the two kindergarten-through-12th-grade complexes in Hardeeville and Ridgeland.

In 2001, voters approved a $46 million bond referendum to build the schools, but it's costing more than they thought. It's now up to $70 million because they've had to add on.

And one school board member tells us the schools still won't be big enough.

The good news is contractors say the construction should be completed on time, in August of 2007. We'll keep you posted.
