The United Way is wrapping up its annual fundraising campaign, and volunteers are giving it one final push. United Way headquarters on Bull Street has been home base as volunteers take pledges and follow up on promises.
The team's manager, Mike Kemp, told volunteers that the campaign has collected almost 95 percent of its goal of $7.1 million, and they are not finished yet.
"This is it," he said. "It's decision time. It's crunch time. It's down to the ninth inning and the bases are loaded and we need that big hit to come through to get that. We have 190,000 people in this community we serve that count onus to deliver that seven million one and hopefully higher."
The campaign wraps up at 8pm tonight with a victory celebration at Grayson Stadium.
The Beaufort United way is still working toward its goal too. Earlier today they had 71.5 percent of their $2.5 million goal.
