Gov. Sonny Perdue spent the day with troops in Baghdad. He and three other governors--Kansas governor Kathleen Sebelius, Mississippi governor Haley Barbour, and Gov. Jennifer Granholm of Michigan--pitched in under the mess tent, serving up the food and words of thanks.
They dined on turkey, yams and other holiday favorites as they listened to soldiers share their experiences.
"I found the morale of our Georgia troops to be extremely high," Gov. Perdue said. "They understand why they're here and what their mission is. And while they miss their families as any of us would, they're prepared to stay until their mission is complete."
The governors also visited Kuwait and Qatar to spend time with the troops from their respective states.
