US Marshals Seek Fugitive in Chatham County

An escapee from Florida is on the loose in the Savannah area and US marshals need your help in finding him. Dominic Reddick, 22, was being transported to court in a van when it broke down on Monday in an area outside Orlando, Florida.

Marshals say he was taken to Chatham County by his brother Tuesday. A marshal spotted Reddick near Highway 17 and State Route 204 just after 6pm yesterday evening, and a chase began.

They immediately called for help from the Georgia State Patrol and Savannah-Chatham police. Helicopters were brought in along with dogs to search the area from the Bamboo Farm to Ford Point apartments.

Reddick is considered very dangerous.

"In February of 2005, Mr. Reddick attempted to shoot a police officer," said US Marshal Jennifer Armstrong. "The weapon he was trying to shoot the officer with was not loaded, so he was charged with attempted homicide, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and also resisting arrest with violence."

Reddick was last seen wearing a black jumpsuit and no shoes. If you spot him or know anything about the escape, call CrimeStoppers at 234.2020.
