Veterans Receive Belated Diplomas

Troops from another era are celebrating. They gave up their high school educations to go to fight for our country in Vietnam. But now, they have their diplomas.

In Chatham County's regional fall graduation ceremony at Johnson High School yesterday, many proud parents cheered on their children. But it was the children cheering on special graduating vets.

They got drafted in the '70s and never finished school with a proper graduation ceremony. As Vietnam vet Alfred Lee Dunham put it, "I'm complete now."

Under Veterans Bill 1068, veterans can go back to school and receive a diploma.
