College can be an overwhelming experience for new students. For some, it can lead to depression and even suicide. That's how Phil and Donna Satow lost their son, Jed. He was a college sophomore. Everything seemed fine, but after a tough breakup with his girlfriend, the 20 year old took his own life. At the time, his parents were shocked to find out many universities don't offer much help. Students with suicidal thoughts or feelings were often on their own. Now, the Satows are taking steps to keep it from happening to anyone else's child. They started the Jed Foundation and an outreach website called U-Lifeline. The site allows students to take an anonymous screening. It also puts kids in touch with professionals on their campus.
