Radio Personality Presents Gifts to Sick Children

Clear Channel Radio's Mark Robertson made his annual visit to Backus Children's Hospital today. Robertson and his helpers from 98.7 the River brought a vanload of gifts for the children who will not likely be able to be home for Christmas.

Robertson's Children's Wish program at Backus has been going on for seven years. During the past three years, he has included families who have children with cancer.

Robertson says it's very satisfying to know that at least ten families who were not expecting anything will have toys and gift certificates. "It's the listeners that are incredibly generous," he said. "On average we've raised ten to 12 thousand dollars a year for the ten families that we feature, and it's the listeners that donate incredible amounts of money and donate toys and whatever. I just feel like I'm just the, kind of like the conduit that lets them do it."

Memorial Health presented Robertson with a special award thanking him and the station for their support of the many families who have sick children at Backus.
