Two Men Are Facing Serious Charges After Trying to Elude Savannah Police

Two men are facing serious charges after trying to elude savannah Police overnight, and wound up wrecking their vehicle.

About 12:45am, a Savannah Chatham Police Officer spotted two men in a Chevy Blazer and was going to pull them over. But the men in the vehicle sped East on 34th Street and ran through the stop signs. Police were notified of an accident on the railroad tracks at the dead end of East 34th near Plant Avenue. Police say it looks like the driver couldn't stop in time, so the vehicle hit the curb, then went airborne, hit the tracks and overturned. One of the men inside jumped out and ran but was soon in custody. The other man was trapped in the Blazer and Savannah Firefighters had to be called out to cut the top off.

Both men were taken to Memorial Health. They are facing charges of fleeing and eluding Police and various traffic offenses. More charges could be pending.
