Thunderbolt is making history. Their first female mayor was officially sworn in yesterday. Anna Maria Thomas had 309 votes, and her opponent John Hall had 233.
Thunderbolt now has a female police chief, mayor and city administrator.
Thomas says the first thing on her agenda is to make sure everyone working together knows each other, since there are also four new city council members.
"It's exciting," she said. "I know everybody is watching to see what's going to happen, and only good things will happen."
It was an emotional day for both new mayor and the outgoing Jimmy Petrea, longtime Thunderbolt mayor.
