A Parris Island drill instructor facing a court-martial for the death of a recruit has one less charge. Marine Staff Sgt. Nadia Lopez is still facing charges of negligent homicide in connection with the drowning death of Pvt. Jason Tharp last February.
However a military judge dismissed charges of failure to obey orders. Staff Sgt. Lopez's court-martial is scheduled for next month.
