Police Arrest Passenger, Seek Driver After Chase

The chase ended when the driver crashed into a playground at Crossroads Villa. The chase ended when the driver crashed into a playground at Crossroads Villa.

A police chase that took place on Savannah's southside started over a case of mistaken identity. It started shortly after 7pm on Abercorn Street, when police tried to pull over a car they thought had someone inside they wanted to question. That's when the car took off.

Eventually, the driver crashed into a playground at Crossroads Villa on Montgomery Cross Road and escaped on foot, leaving a gun inside the car.

Police did catch the passenger, 19-year-old Lenard Williams, who's been charged with obstruction by fleeing and felony possession of marijuana.

After the chase ended, investigators say they were able to figure out the driver wasn't even the person they were looking for. They haven't named a suspect in the chase, but say the driver is facing numerous charges.
