A five year old Garden City boy is home with his family after he was kidnapped Friday.

Police say five year old, Kirk "Lucky" Banks' mother let him go with her roommate, but grew concerned when the pair hadn't returned fourteen hours later.

When police got the missing person call Friday evening, Kirk Banks had already been missing most of the day.

Garden City Police Sergeant, Mark Gunnoe, says the boy's mother made numerous attempts throughout the day to contact her roommate by cell phone and was unable to do so. So, around Midnight Friday, the frantic mother finally called 9-1-1. At the time, investigators were told that she let five year old Kirk, leave with Shamone Collins, expecting them to be back within an hour.

Sergeant Gunnoe says the mother decided to allow the roommate to use her van, "and as collateral, basically take her five year old child so that she could ensure the van would be returned."

By Saturday afternoon, Garden City Police were scouring places they knew Shamone Collins had frequented and spotted the missing van at the Guest House Motel on Highway 17 in Savannah.

Sergeant Gunnoe says he saw the missing van from a distance, then started following it. The van eventually ended up stopping at the Guest House Motel. It was then that Sergeant Gunnoe says he saw Collins getting out of the van with Banks. Gunnoe was able to arrest her without incident and get a scared five year old back to his mother.
