Downtown CAT Buses to Be Temporarily Rerouted

Chatham Area Transit has released the following:

Savannah, Georgia – Broughton Street is scheduled to be resurfaced from Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. to East Broad Street beginning Monday, January 30th through Wednesday, February 8th. The City of Savannah will begin work on Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. and proceed eastbound. Traffic flow and parking will be impacted but not disrupted. The following information will assist CAT’s passengers with their bus connections during this process.

· Westside buses (3A, 3B, 17, 25, 29) will head inbound to downtown, north on MLK Jr. Blvd.., east on Oglethorpe to Abercorn, then north to York, circle Oglethorpe Square, back to Abercorn, west on Oglethorpe, to Montgomery and then head outbound to MLK, Jr. Blvd. and continue on their regular routes.

· Westside buses can be boarded on Oglethorpe at Montgomery or on York at Abercorn.

· Eastside and southside buses travel west on Oglethorpe to Boundary, Turner, Fahm to Oglethorpe. They then continue east on Oglethorpe along their regular routes.

· The public may board route nos. 10, 24, 27, 28 and 31 on Oglethorpe at Montgomery heading west or on Oglethorpe at Abercorn heading east. These buses will not stop on Oglethorpe eastbound between MLK, Jr. Blvd. and Drayton.

· The public may board the no. 4 Barnard on Oglethorpe at Montgomery heading west or on Barnard at Oglethorpe.

· Stops for routes 11 and 14 are on Oglethorpe at Montgomery heading west and on Abercorn at Oglethorpe. The 2 West Chatham will travel inbound from Bay to MLK, Jr. Blvd., then east on Oglethorpe to Abercorn, north to York, circle Oglethorpe Square, and head back to Abercorn, then west on Oglethorpe, to Montgomery.

· Outbound, the 2 West Chatham heads to MLK and then continues on its regular route. The 2 West Chatham will also stop on MLK, Jr. Blvd. at Broughton headed north.

· The downtown CAT Shuttle heading west on Bay St. from the Marriott Hotel will continue to MLK, Jr. Blvd., south to Gaston and then to its regular route. The CAT Shuttle will make regular stops along MLK, Jr. Blvd, at Turner and the Visitors Center.
