More than 100 Marines from Beaufort are on their way to Iraq. Members of the Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 5-33 and Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 31 hugged and kissed their families goodbye yesterday afternoon. They're on their way to Camp Al-Asad in western Iraq.

For the next seven months, they'll provide aerial support and reconnaissance for the First Marine Expeditionary Force and coalition troops.

Cpl. Fadi Abdelhalim said he's excited about being part of the bigger picture, and building a better country for the people of Iraq. "To know you made a different in someone else's life and to know that, down the road, I may have a grandchild sit on my lap and say, 'Hey, grandpa, you were there?' and I can say, yes and feel good about it."

The Marines will replace the Moonlighters, who are just returning from Iraq.
