More military personnel are on their way to Afghanistan today. A squadron from the 165th Airlift Wing took off from Travis Field this morning. This is the second group from the 165th to deploy for Afghanistan this week. They will be gone for about two months, flying personnel and cargo around the country and maintaining equipment.

"We've got about 28 maintenance and operations folks that are going with us today," said Lt. Col. Jim Grandy. "It's a three-day trip to get over to Afghanistan. We'll be flying missions probably every other day while we are in country in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

For most of these part-time Airmen and -women, this is their fourth or fifth deployment in just the last three years.
