Autopsy Inconclusive in Child's Death

Savannah-Chatham police are still looking for the cause of death of a four-year-old boy who died in his Yamacraw Village apartment.

The boy's father tells police he went to check on the toddler about 7:30pm Friday and found the child wasn't breathing. He called 911 and dispatchers talked him through CPR until ambulance crews arrived.

The child was pronounced dead at Memorial Health and police are calling the death suspicious.

The mother wasn't home at the time and three of his siblings were in different apartments.

An autopsy performed on Sunday was inconclusive, so the GBI will have to do further tests to discover the exact cause of death.

The siblings have been placed in protective custody.
