Police say Floyd Goldwire, 64, was walking near the intersection of DeRenne and White Bluff yesterday evening with a loaded rifle. Officers confronted him, and after a short standoff, they got him to put the rifle down. Goldwire told officers he was upset that someone towed his car and he was going to retrieve it.
Goldwire was charged with reckless conduct obstruction by resisting and simple assault. He bonded out of jail early this morning.
No one was hurt during the ordeal. Goldwire's family tells WTOC he has Alzheimer's.
