A Long County woman and her two small children were hospitalized Friday night after all three were hit by a car. The Georgia State Patrol says a Hinesville man driving a Saturn struck Isabel Rodan-Lucas and her two children just after nine o'clock Friday night on Highway 196.

The family was on their way home from a convenience store. Rodan-Lucas was pushing her two children in a stroller when they were hit. The mother, her ten month old son and one and a half year old daughter were thrown about forty feet into a ditch.

Police say when emergency crews arrived, the woman was gasping for air. The infant had injuries to the back of his head and the little girl had injuries to her forehead. Emergency crews took them to Liberty Regional Medical Center. Rodan-Lucas and the baby later were transferred to Memorial Health University in Savannah.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating.
