Easter Comes Early to Savannah

Easter may still be two weeks away; however, the Easter Bunny has already made a stop in Savannah. Dozens of kids came running to Lake Mayer for Chatham County's annual Easter egg hunt, poised and ready to start the search for eggs once they heard the word "Go!"

They weren't disappointed. There were eggs everywhere, ready to be snatched up by kids of all ages. No matter how many eggs ended up in their baskets, these kids having a good time. They had the chance to look everywhere in the park, for eggs of every color, but what really mattered was finding the golden ones because they carried something special inside: a prize.

"They tried to hide it so you won't find it," explained one young searcher, "but I found it."

While some walked away with Easter baskets, others weren't as lucky... but they took it all in stride.

"I had a plan that I was going to find the golden egg," said Niamh Kenny, "but I just found the yellow ones."

Overall, kids got more than their basket full, they got a good time, which was obvious, by their smiling faces. Even though she didn't get her golden egg, Niamh Kenny says she still likes the Easter Bunny.

"I think he's so cute, and he's sweet," she said.

Chatham County has been hosting the Easter egg hunt for more than a dozen years.
