Junior Service League Hopes for Record-breaking Blood Drive

As we all know, donating blood can save lives. And that's why the Junior Service League of Beaufort sponsored a blood drive today with the Low Country Blood Center in honor of four-year-old Garret Jackson. They're hoping to get enough blood donations to beat the Beaufort County record, but more importantly, help many like the Jackson family.

"They wanted something positive to come from Garret's illness," said the Junior Service League's Caroline Lovell. "He has non-Hotchkins lymphoma, and so they asked us to do a blood drive in his honor. So all the blood donated will be in his honor."

Although Garret will not be able to use all the blood donated today, many others in the area will benefit. Every time you donate blood, it can help three save three people.

The blood drive will run until 7pm tonight at the Keyserling Cancer Center in Port Royal.
