Murder Suspect Charged in Gun Theft

A Savannah teenager charged with the murder of a 15-year-old boy is now facing charges of stealing guns in a pawn shop burglary. Juan Williams, 18, was arrested early the morning of March 29 and charged with the murder of Tyrell Butts. The shooting took place about 8pm the night before, near Cann Park in west Savannah.

That night, detectives searched Williams' home and recovered computers and other equipment police say was stolen from Savannah State University and a home on West Victory Drive. On Monday, detectives charged Williams and two other men with the burglary of Big Tom's Pawn Shop on March 9.

Police say 51 guns were taken, along with ammunition and jewelry. Detectives have not said if any of the guns were recovered at Williams' home. He remains in the Chatham County jail.
