School Board Cuts Positions

There are more changes for Chatham County public schools. They're cutting more than 35 positions at the central office and an adult education program. The superintendent says the move will save millions of dollars, and help young students at the same time.

"It was not an easy decision," said Dr. Thomas Lockamy, the district's superintendent. "I feel for the families and employees, but at the same time I have to look at the child and student that I am trying to educate."

The board is still debating whether students will be made to wear uniforms. But they did decide on calendars for the beginning of school for the next two years.
