House Destroyed by Fire, Two Displaced

About 3:30am this morning, Savannah firefighters were called to a house fire in the Tatemville neighborhood on Glatigny Street off Staley Avenue. When they arrived, flames and smoke were shooting out of the one-story block house. The man who lives there says he and his brother were asleep and woke up to the house on fire.

One man made it out through the window of the burning home.

The house was in such bad shape, officials had to pull the firefighters out before the roof collapsed. It only took firefighters a few minutes to bring the blaze under control, but the house was gutted.

The Red Cross has been called in to help the two men displaced by the fire and investigators are looking into the cause.
