A thousand Coastal Empire athletes are getting ready for their biggest day of the year. Bulloch County's Special Olympics athletes held their annual games today, but also prepared for their area games April 28. The Area 13 Games host athletes from 12 counties.
Today's games featured track and field events as well as soccer skills tests. Supporters will help finance the Area 13 Games with a golf tournament the same day.
"That money goes toward helping Special Olympians in the area, providing scholarships to the games, equipment for the games so our 1,000 athletes can participate," said organizer John Mulherin.
If you'd like to help support the games or play in the golf tournament, it's the same day as the games, April 28, and will take place at Willow Lake Country Club.
