SCMPD on Lookout After Attempted Abduction

Savannah-Chatham police are looking for a man they say tried to abduct a 9-year-old girl in west Chatham County. It happened around 5:45pm Thursday afternoon near a home on Moose Drive. Police say the child was riding her bicycle when a man with a knife approached her and tried to grab her.

She screamed, and the man fled the area. He's described as a white male in his '30s with short, light brown hair driving a Ford Ranger or Dodge Dakota.

"We want everyone to watch out for this man, so we can identify him, and get him off the streets," said Lt. Mike Wilkins. "And watch out for your kids."

An hour earlier, a man fitting a similar description attempted to enter a home on Savannah's eastside, claiming to be a Comcast employee. He is not.

Investigators are trying to determine if the two incidents are connected.
