About 1:15am this morning, Bryan County deputies were called to a two-car accident near mile marker 137 in the westbound lanes of I-16. That's just before the Pembroke-Fort Stewart exit.
Deputies notified Bryan County firefighters and an ambulance. They removed the driver of a compact car and called for LifeStar helicopter.
The 27-year-old man was unresponsive and had to be flown to Memorial Health in Savannah suffering from very serious injuries.
Deputies say two cars collided with each other, one ending up in the woods off the interstate.
There's no word on the condition or names of those involved in the accident. The investigation is continuing.
