Local Restaurant Donates $4K to USO

Bojangles' Restaurant was serving up more than lunch this afternoon. Last week, the fast food chain decided to give five percent of its profits to the USO.

The owner of the DeRenne Avenue location in Savannah, Joe Dyer, made good on that promise and today handed a check for more than $4,000 to the USO. It's his way of saying thanks for all the organization does for America's military.

And you better believe that money will get put to good use. "When they deploy and come back, we're there at Hunter Army Airfield and we give them gift packages and soft drinks," said Ray Gaster, chairman of the Savannah USO. "So those funds will be used to take care of those activities."

Dyer knows how important the USO is to the military. He is a Vietnam veteran.

The USO's mission is to provide morale, welfare and recreation services to America's military.
