Sunrise Easter Service on Tybee Island

Tybee's sunrise service is an Easter tradition for many. Tybee's sunrise service is an Easter tradition for many.

Christians all over the world celebrated Easter this weekend, a day that recognizes the resurrection of Christ, but no place does it quite like Tybee Island.

Mike Harrell has been coming to the service for the past seventeen years and says this year's service is one of the prettiest he has ever seen.

Hundreds of people rose before dawn to fill the Tybee Island Pavilion, listening to the gospel while soaking in the beautiful beach backdrop.

All Saints Episcopal Church's Father Immel says "it's the thing to do in Savannah on Easter morning."

Over the years, the popularity of this Easter tradition has grown tremendously.

"You have to get here earlier and earlier to even think about getting a seat," said Mike Harell. "I was very fortunate this morning to find somewhere to sit."
