Third Suspect Arrested in Pawn Shop Gun Theft

A third suspect has been arrested for breaking into a local pawn shop and stealing more than 50 guns. James Spaulding, 17, has been charged with the burglary of Big Tom's Pawn Shop. Savannah-Chatham police say Spaulding and two other men climbed on the roof of the shop on March 9, broke through the ceiling and stole guns, ammunition and jewelry.

Detectives say they searched Spaulding's Cann Park home and found three of the stolen guns last month. Spaulding was already in jail on theft by receiving charges.

Brandon Robinson, 19, was also charged in the burglary. He was indicted on April 12 on a federal charge of theft of firearms.

The third person arrested in connection with the pawn shop burglary is also charged with the shooting death of a teenaged boy. Police say Juan Williams, 19, killed 15-year-old Terrell Butts. Yesterday, a judge found enough evidence to send his case to a grand jury.

So far, officers have only recovered five of the stolen guns. Anyone with information about where the other guns may be can call CrimeStoppers at 234.2020.
