City to Continue Housing Family Forced Out by Sewage Backup

We have an update to Gloria Rivera's story (Family Forced from Home Not Finding Relief). Rivera and five of her children slept in the car Wednesday night. Last month, a sewage line backed up in their house, dumping raw sewage everywhere.

The city was paying for her expenses and sent her a letter, offering her $613 for her damages. She said city officials told her if she didn't accept, they wouldn't pay her expenses any longer.

Today, Gloria filed a claim against the city, giving them a list of her damages. Assistant city manager Chris Morrill says they will pay for Gloria's hotel and expenses until they can get her claim resolved.

They're starting work on the house tomorrow.
