What started as a traffic violation in Pooler turned into a police chase across three Georgia counties. Police say the driver ran a stop sign in Pooler around four o'clock Sunday morning. Officers tried to pull the car over, but it took off, racing through Chatham County into and through Bryan County, before crashing near exit 76 in Liberty County off of Interstate 95.

After the car crashed, the driver jumped out and took off into the woods. His three passengers stayed in the car. One of them had been shot in the leg. Lifestar flew him to Memorial Health University. The driver surrendered to deputies after police brought in K-9 search dogs.

The driver told deputies they were at the Waffle House on Eisenhower Drive and Abercorn Street when someone shot his friend. He said he was trying to drive his friend to the hospital; however, police don't know why he didn't go to any of the hospitals in Savannah where the shooting reportedly took place.

Police questioned the other two passengers and released them. They arrested the driver for fleeing police. More charges are pending.
