A man recovering from a gunshot wound is facing charges as one of Savannah's most wanted criminals. Savannah Chatham Police had been looking for 24 year old Rahmine Ashley since February, when they say he tried to run over two police officers. They finally caught up with him early Sunday morning. Lifestar flew him to Memorial Health University after he was shot in the leg.

Ashley was shot around 3:00 a.m. in front of the Waffle House on Savannah's southside; however, police didn't catch up to him until he was two counties away. Shortly after the shooting, Ashley and his friends ran a stop sign in Pooler. Police tried to pull the car over, but they took off, racing through Chatham and Bryan counties before crashing in Liberty County near I-95 exit 76. The driver, Darnel Campbell, ran off into the woods, but surrendered after police brought in K-9 search dogs. Police arrested him for fleeing. More charges are pending.

Ashley and two other passengers stayed in the car. Ashley is facing two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer. Police say he'll likely face more charges. He's under police guard at Memorial Health University. He'll be arrested once he's released from the hospital.
