Prayer Service for Mayor Johnson

Mayor Otis Johnson is still recovering in a Memphis hospital, after suffering a heart attack there two weeks ago.  Tonight members of the community held interfaith prayer service.

The service was held at Saint Phillip Monumental A.M.E.  More than a dozen people were in attendance.  Evelyn Richardson a Savannah resident says “we’re here to give support to the Mayor.  We’ve been praying for him and we want to let him know that we love him and support him.”  In addition Richardson says the Mayor has touched so many people’s lives because of his compassion and all that he has done to make sure everyone has an equal opportunity to enjoy life.

Others in the attendance commented on all the Mayors accomplishments saying he has done so much for the community.  Dale Arkwright an employee with the city says “I think we have the best Mayor the city has ever had, so god lord bring him back to the city soon.”

The hour long service is just one of many that have been taking place across town.
