Innocent Bystander Injured in Shootout

Police marked bullet casings all over the street. Police marked bullet casings all over the street.

One person is recovering in the hospital after a shootout which left at least three vehicles and a home damaged. Savannah-Chatham police were called to the corner of East Bolton and Atlantic Streets about 9:45pm last night, where they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound.

It appears at least two groups of suspects in vehicles got into a gunfight, leaving bullet casings all over the streets.

Police say the woman who was shot is an innocent bystander who lives in a house on the corner. Bullets went through the house and at least one hit her. She was taken to Memorial Health for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers also found bullet holes in two cars and a pickup truck near the scene. The suspects sped away from the scene.

Anyone with information about the shootout is urged to call CrimeStoppers at 234.2020.
