Some special guests made an appearance today at a newly expanded area of military airspace near Townsend, Georgia. A B-2 Spirit bomber, along with some F-16s and F-18s out of Beaufort, christened the newly opened airspace with some precision bomb targeting practice.
This is the first time the stealth bomber has practiced anywhere on the East Coast.
"It was great," said Lt. Col. Jim O'Brien. "We're looking forward to the new airspace. Better utilities and more customers here, and better training for our troops."
The different jets had a friendly competition today to see who could get closest to the targets.
WTOC's general manager, Bill Cathcart, was one of the invited guests.
