Lynch to Use Media to Keep Public Informed

Gen. Lynch never took the podium. Gen. Lynch never took the podium.

The man who's now in charge of our fighting men and women with the Third Infantry Division promises to keep citizens informed. Today, Maj. Gen. Rick Lynch met with representatives from all the local media.

He kept it conversational, never even taking the podium at Hunter Army Airfield. Instead, he sat among the guests chatting casually.

He says the Army belongs to the American public and the media is critical to let everyone know what's going on,  especially in wartime.

"The most important thing is, we as the Third Division are a war-fighting division that's part of an army that's at war that's part of a nation that's at war," he told us. "And the American public needs to understand what's going on. What are the complications that we have? What are the advantages we have? What are our plans? And that's what I intend to do with the media, is inform the American public, at least here in coastal Georgia, of what's taking place with their army."

WTOC was represented at the event by vice president and general manager Bill Cathcart. Of course we will take Gen. Lynch up on his offer to keep us informed and pass the news along to our audience.
